Easy Magic Tricks

Coin Prediction Magic Trick

Place an envelope on the table and tell your spectator to imagine they have three coins – a penny, a nickel, and a dime. They name any coin. You pick up the envelope showing that you correctly predicted the coin they would choose.

Setup

You will need a small piece of paper, a small envelope, and a dime.

Coin Prediction Trick

Place the paper and dime inside the envelope, dime at the bottom. Put a tiny piece of double stick tape on the flap so it stays down yet still opens easily. Start with the envelope on the table, blank side up.

How to Do It

This trick is called a 3-way out. Your spectator does not know what you are going to do. Whatever coin they choose you will show a different outcome. There are 3 possible endings:

How to Do It

finger palm coin production

Slide the coin from finger palm to display position using your thumb. If your hands sweat making it hard to slide, turn your hand palm down, drop the coin onto your fingers, and turn your hand palm up with the coin in position.

Balancing Coin Trick

Tell your spectator if they can balance a quarter on the edge of a bill they can keep it. They cannot do it. You show them how.

How to Do It

It is best to use a crisp bill. Fold it in half and rest the quarter on top. Grip the bill and slowly pull it open at the sides.

The quarter will stay balanced, even when the bill is completely straight. You can lift the bill off the table with the quartered balanced. It is pretty amazing!

Pro Tips

This is a “bar bet.” A bar bet is when you challenge your spectator to do something which sounds completely impossible. It usually is, unless you know the secret.

Bar bets are fun and extremely engaging. It is nice to mix in a bar bet sometimes when performing.

Broken & Restored Toothpick Trick

Your spectator breaks a toothpick and you fully restore it.

Setup

You need a cloth napkin, the type that has a seam at the edge. Before your performance secretly push a toothpick into the seam at the corner of the napkin.

Broken & Restored Toothpick Trick

Performance

Open the napkin with the hidden toothpick corner toward you. Show a toothpick and place it on the napkin. Fold the corners into the center trapping the toothpick inside. Keep the corner with the hidden toothpick close to you.

Through the napkin lift the hidden corner toothpick and hand it to your spectator. Tell them to break it a few times and then let go. Wave your hands over the napkin and then slowly open it up showing the toothpick is restored.

Lift and shake out the napkin showing there are no broken pieces.

Pro Tips

This is an incredible trick, you will get a great reaction.

This trick is perfect if you are at a restaurant and they have toothpicks. You can do the setup beforehand or in your lap, it only takes a second.

Make sure you keep track of the hidden toothpick when you fold it over. You do not want your spectator to break the wrong one.

Toothpick Challenge Trick

Using toothpicks you make a field goal with a football in it. Without changing the look of the field goal, your spectator has to move 2 toothpicks so the football is outside the goal. They cannot do it. You show them how.

Setup

You need 5 toothpicks. Arrange the toothpicks as seen in the picture. Break a small piece off the other toothpick and place it inside.

Pro Tips

This is another bar bet like the balancing coin trick above. It is fun to mix these into your performances. This trick is perfect as a follow-up to the broken and restored toothpick trick above.

Instead of saying the toothpicks make a field goal, you can also say it is a martini glass with a cherry in it.

Coin Through Table Trick

You push a coin straight through the table.

I am right handed. If you are a lefty switch hands.

How to Do It

You have to be seated at a table with a coin on the table in front of you. Start with your left hand naturally resting in your lap.

With your right hand, in a scooping motion, drag the coin to the edge of the table, let it fall in your lap, and act as if you picked it up. Rotate your right fingers up, back of your hand toward the audience, as if you are holding it.

coin through table trick

Rotate your fingers back down and tap the supposed coin on the table. As you do this pick up the coin with your left hand.

Tap the tips of your right fingers two times on the table as you tap the coin against the table from below. The audio illusion is perfect.

On the 3rd tap open your right hand wide showing the coin is gone. At the same time press the coin flat against the table underneath to get another great audio illusion. Bring the coin out and show it.

Pro Tips

It is a good idea to put a napkin in your lap so the coin doesn’t fall off when you drop it in.

Jumping Rubber Band Trick

A rubber band visibly jumps across your fingers.

How to Do It

Hold your right hand open, back of your hand toward the audience. Place a rubber band around your right 1st and 2nd fingers. Stretch the band open, curl your right fingers into a fist inside the rubber band.

jumping rubber band trick

Open your fingers and the rubber band will jump onto your 3rd and 4th fingers, automatically. It is pretty cool. Repeat the trick, the rubber band jumps back onto your 1st and 2nd fingers.

jumping rubber band magic trick

To make it more impossible twist a rubber band around the top of your fingers. The rubber band around your 1st and 2nd fingers is locked in.

You will do the exact same thing as above, the twisted rubber band has no effect. It is really cool.

This is a great trick and super easy to do. Don’t overdo it. Do it 2 times without the twisted band and 2 times with the twisted band.

You can use any rubber bands. I like using size #14 Alliance Pale Crepe Gold Rubber Bands. They are very soft.

Telekinetic Rubber Band Trick

A rubber band mysteriously moves upward.

How to Do It

Break a rubber band. Place another band onto the center of the broken band. Grip the middle of the broken band with your right thumb and 1st finger. Grip the end with your left thumb and 1st finger.

telekinetic rubber band trick

With the back of your hands toward your audience stretch the band between your hands. It looks like you are holding the ends, yet there is extra band hidden inside your right hand. Hold your right hand lower than your left hand.

Loosen your right hand grip and slowly let the end of the rubber band move through your right thumb and 1st. The rubber band will eerily move upward.

Go slowly, it looks better. Stop before the end slips out of your right hand.

Conclusion

All of these easy magic tricks use minimal props, use ordinary objects, and will fool you big-time. Where can you perform these tricks? Everywhere.

I’ve included a couple bar bets. They are fun to do and also give you something you can teach your audience.
