Move the top card with your left thumb only when your hand is palm down, otherwise they will see it.

To ensure only the top card moves, push the top card to the right, over your left fingertips, and then down into position, in an arcing motion.

Practice until you can do it smoothly and confidently.

Your right fingers only take the card, they do not push back the top card.

3 Card Mind Reading Card Trick

Spectator places 3 cards on the table and you tell them which card they are thinking of.

Have your spectator take out any 3 cards and place them face down in a row.

Show your spectator what to do. Look at the middle card and remember it. This will be your reference card. Switch the position of the other 2 cards.

3 Card Mind Reading

Do this casually, nobody will remember you touched the cards. In this example you looked at the king of clubs.

Turn around and repeat your instructions.

“Look at one card, leave it alone, switch the position of the other 2 cards. Please let me know when I can turn back around.”

Do the trick again. You can use the same cards or your spectator can take out 3 new cards. To vary the trick slightly this time, find their card and flip it over for the reveal.

To add another layer of deception, after I know which is their card, I tell the spectator to gather the cards and mix them a little.

I mime the actions with my hands. They always gently gather the cards and give a slight mix. It is easy to follow their card.

On the 3rd time, you will do a killer ending.

Smacking the Cards Revelation

After you know which card, square the cards into a pile with their card on the bottom. Have your spectator hold out their hand in a loose fist. Mime the actions.

Smacking the Cards Reveal

Place the cards between their 1st and 2nd fingers at the knuckle, not too tight.

Over a table, firmly yet gently smack the cards out of their hand. Due to friction the bottom card, their card, will be the only card they are left holding. Have your spectator turn over the card.

Here is a way to do this and never look at the face of any cards. People who know this trick will be fooled big time.

Find something on the back pattern that stands out and use it as your reference card. In the picture the top border is thinner than the other top borders. The trick works the same way.

Two decks are used. You and your spectator both shuffle and pick a card. The cards are the same.

You need two decks. I am using a red deck and a blue deck.

Start with both decks on the table. Have your spectator pick up one deck and shuffle it. You shuffle the other deck.

Getting a Key Card

A key card is when you secretly know a card in the deck, at a specific position. You will peek the bottom card in a way that your spectators don’t see.

The All Around Square Up Card Sleight

Get your peek as you casually shuffle. Grasp the deck from above with your right hand as you are squaring up. Casually rotate the cards 180° clockwise, moving the inner edge to the outer edge.

The All Around Square Up Card Sleight

Tilt the bottom of the deck up just enough so you can see the bottom card. It will appear as if you are just adjusting the cards in your hands. Nobody will suspect the peek. Continue shuffling keeping the bottom card the same.

The Casual Peek

Many times your spectator will inadvertently flash the bottom card while shuffling. If you peek their bottom card, great, you will use it.

After shuffling you both place your deck down.

Do as I do card trick

If you did not get a peek of their bottom card you will use the key card from your deck. You have to switch decks.

“To make this random, let’s switch decks.”

Slide your deck in front of your spectator and their deck in front of you.

Have your spectator mirror you and do exactly what you do.

Do As I Do Card Trick

Your key card is above their selection. Switch decks and tell your spectator to take out their card and you will do the same. With the faces of the cards toward you run through and take out the card beneath your key card.

Turn over the cards. You will get a strong response, this is a real fooler.

Cards Across Card Trick

Cards mysteriously appear in your spectator’s hand.

Start with a 3 face down on top of the deck.

Turn the deck face up, spread over 13 cards total, in groups of 3, (3-3-3-3-1), and lift off the packet of cards. Place the rest of the deck down face down on the table.

Cards Across Card Trick

Turn the bottom three cards of the packet face down. The best way to do this is to turn around for one second so your spectators don’t see and just do it. The trick hasn’t started yet, nobody is looking. Be casual.

The Count

Here is where the trick starts for your spectators.

Hold the face-up packet of cards squared in your hand so the bottom face-down cards don’t flash. Take the first card, flip it face down, and place it underneath, as you count, “one.” Do this two more times, “two, three.”

Hand the packet to your spectator and have them finish the count. They will count ten cards. Have them hold onto the packet.

Pick up the deck and give a quick shuffle keeping the top card in place. You will force the 3.

Cut Deeper Card Force

Cut Deeper Card Force

Have your spectator lift off a small group of cards, about 10 or so, flip them face up, and place them back onto the deck. Tell them to do it again, yet this time lift off a bigger group of cards.

Spread the face up cards until you get to the first face down card, which is your force card, the 3. Flip this card face up.

“You randomly cut to a three, so I will magically make three cards appear in your packet.”

Moment of Magic

There has to be a moment where you seemingly make the cards appear. I like to do one throwing motion with my hand as if I am invisibly tossing cards toward them.

You can also pick up the deck and riffle the cards in their direction. It’s up to you.

Have your spectator count the cards, they now have 13.

Pro Tips

I have seen this done where the magician repeats the trick and adds another three cards to the 13 cards after they are counted. This is unnecessary and anti-climactic.

Spectator Cuts the Aces Card Trick

Your spectator cuts to the aces.

Easy aces card trick

Start with the aces on top of the deck. Place the cards face down at position 1. You will give your spectator instructions. Point as you give these instructions.

All you are doing is making sure an ace ends up on top of each packet. Your instructions should appear extremely random.

Perfect! You cut the cards randomly. I didn’t know how you would cut the deck. Please turn over the top cards.

Pro Tip

Be casual about the cutting procedure. Act as if you are making it up as you go.

Stranger Card Trick

Your spectator picks a card and it changes color.

What is a Stranger Card?

A stranger card is a card with a different back than the deck you are using. I use red backed cards so my stranger card is a blue backed card.

Hindu Shuffle Card Force

Hindu shuffle the deck until your spectator says stop. They get the force card.

Hindu shuffle card force

Start with your force card on the bottom. Do the Hindu shuffle and tell your spectator to say stop. When they say stop tap the packet in your right hand on the back of the cards in your left hand, as if squaring up the cards.

Lift up the right packet and show the bottom card, your “force card.” Place this packet back on top of the cards.

Wave over the deck. Spread showing one blue card, their card.

key card trick

Lift off small packets of cards from the deck and place them into a pile on the table.

When your spectator places their card on top, place the rest of the deck on top. This sets your key card above their selection.

Second Card Picked

Have another spectator think of any card.

Spectators Switch Their Cards

Spread the cards face-up on the table and give instructions. Look for your key card and remember the card below it, the first selection.

Key Card Placement
